Alcoholism – indeed, addiction of all kinds – is a problem in our society. According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), 19.7 million American adults (aged 12 and older) battled a substance use disorder in 2017. This problem was exacerbated by the pandemic, as Neilsen reported there was a 54% increase in heavy drinking among Americans during the early part of the pandemic.

We are not being realistic if we think there aren’t people in our churches who are struggling with addiction.
