Saying the Deadly Part Out Loud

On November 22, The Gospel Coalition put out an article telling its readers that following Jesus is more important than the life of their trans child. However, in doing so, they said the quiet part out loud by showing their theology leads to death, not life.

Is Child Sacrifice Biblical?
The story of Abraham almost sacrificing Isaac in Genesis 22 is rather interesting when you look at the language. You’ll notice that the term used for the god that tells Abraham to sacrifice Isaac is always “elohim,” the general word for “gods,” but the god that stops Abraham is Y- (shortened to hold respect for those who do not use the divine name). Many have used this to show that the God of Abraham used this scene as a prohibition on child sacrifice as worship for the divine (more here). Unfortunately, The Gospel Coalition (TGC) failed to learn the lesson that our adherence to a god should not put our children's lives at risk.
