Day 1 of 7: Palm Sunday
Make this week holy through Christ's redemptive grace."
"Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ."
-John 1:16-17 (NIV)
“The Word became flesh and redeemed us by His holy life and holy death… let us accept redemption by living grateful, faithful, prayerful, generous, just and holy lives.”
-Sr. Thea Bowman, SOG
If you really think about it, none of us deserve what we have received, freely, from God. But that’s just how grace works.
Redemptive Grace is best understood as unearned, undeserved, unmerited favor. It is a gift that flows from Christ to us, all because of His love for us. There is nothing that we can do to earn more of His grace, and He will never withdraw His grace from us. However — we can choose to reject His grace. We can also choose to return and accept that gift of grace again.
Our relationship with God is not according to the law. Our relationship with God is not according to the works that we complete. Our relationship with God is according to Grace. We are redeemed by that grace, and it is because of that redemption that we are called and that we desire to live grateful, faithful, prayerful, generous, just, and holy lives.
Let us pray:
Sing my tongue, the Savior's glory,
of His flesh the mystery sing;
of the Blood, all price exceeding,
shed by our immortal King,
destined, for the world's redemption,
from a noble womb to spring.
