Day 1 of 6: The Light

“…[Jesus] said, ‘I am the light for the world! Follow me, and you won’t be walking in the dark. You will have the light that gives life.’”
John 8:12 (CEV)

Jesus discovered the light of God within him. Our spiritual journey is meant to help us discover the light of God within ourselves. If we will follow Jesus’ example of discovering and embracing the indwelling light, then we will always be guided by that light.

Light refers to energy, power, spiritual illumination, wisdom—we can call it whatever makes sense to us: the Christ Principle, the Buddha Nature, our Higher Power, the Atman, “that of God” within us, Sophia/Wisdom, conscience, True Self, inner guidance… What we name it doesn’t matter to “It.”

What is important is that we learn that there is some part of us that is holy and everlasting. We see “It” in Jesus, and he encourages us to learn to see it also within ourselves.

I choose to follow Jesus’ example and embrace the light that is forever part of me. Amen.
